A 30-year-old Freeport man drows while bathing at Turtle Rock Bay in Blanchissuese on Friday.
Investigators said a group of 15 people went hiking in the area without notifying the Blanchisseuse police.
It is reported that while at Turtle Rock Bay, Qadir Shah, of Murray Park, Beaucarro Road in Freeport, got into difficulties and his body disappeared ten minutes later.
Fishermen from the area were able to rescue the other hikers. The rocky area along with choppy waters made it difficult to retrieve Shah’s body on Friday and the Coast Guard had to be called in.
