Young in Suriname for Gas Summit

ENGERY Minister Stuart Young is off to Suriname to attend Suriname Energy, Oil and Gas Summit (SEOGS) in Paramaribo.

He is joined by Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers Association (TTMA) president Roger Roach who will be part of a contingency consisting of leaders of 20 companies from the chemicals, printing and packaging; food and beverage; garment and construction sectors.

The SEOGS takes place from June 19 to June 22.

In a tweet on Sunday, Young said, “Heading to Paramaribo, Suriname to participate in the Suriname Energy, Oil and Gas Summit 2023. Promoting regional energy security and the right for developing nations to exploit their natural resources in a responsible and safe manner.”

TTMA in a media release stated that the delegation will also take part in the summit and engage in business meetings over the period.

TTMA stated, “The trade mission is geared toward determining business opportunities within the Surinamese market for TT companies and establishing and deepening strategic business and logistical relationships between manufacturers and buyers.” 

The mission was a key project under the Export Booster Initiative, a strategic effort by the government aimed at increasing the value of the non-energy sector, TTMA added.
