MORE than 75% of residents who were affected by supply of water from the Navet Water Treatment Plant, had their water supply fully restored by 2 pm Tuesday.

By 8 pm on Tuesday, all affected residents should have a clean and regular water supply.

This was stated by leader of Government Business in the Senate Paula Gopee-Scoon.

She was answering an urgent question asked by Opposition Senator Wade Mark on behalf of Public Utilities Minister Marvin Gonzales.

On Monday, the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) issued a release advising customers that an issue with the power supply at the plant caused low clearwell levels, resulting in discoloured water. It affected customers in south east Trinidad.

Mark asked when the water supply would have been restored.

Gopee-Scoon said, “Complete restoration of a supply of clear water is expected to be restarted by 8 pm tonight with over 75% of the affected customers already having their supply fully restored. The Authority apologises for the inconvenience and thanks the customers for their patience and understanding.”
