A POWER trip at the Navet Water Treatment Plant is the reason why residents in south-east Trinidad are experiencing issues with their water supply.

The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) in a press release on Monday stated that the power trip created low clearwell levels at the facility further resulting in discoloured water.

The Authority advised affected persons to not use the discoloured water and that flushing exercises were taking place at the plant.

The exercises are expected to be completed by noon today (Tuesday) and supply to all affected customers should be restored within 48 hours.

WASA stated, “Customers are asked to leave their garden taps open until the water supply runs clear to allow the flushing of their lines. Further, those customers with internal storage are asked to lock off the supply to their storage.”
