T&T’s Covid-19 Deaths Cross 3,500

THE total number of  Covid-19 deaths in Trinidad and Tobago has crossed 3,500.

This after six more people died on Thursday due to the coronavirus

The number of active Covid-19 positive cases in Trinidad and Tobago has also officially crossed 21,000.

The Ministry of Health in its latest update (#996)  reported 738 new positive cases.

The ministry also stated that 118, 727 boosters have been administered while 49.8% of the population of Trinidad and Tobago is fully vaccinated.

The six deaths included:

  • 1 elderly man;

  • 2 elderly women;

  • 2 middle-aged men; and

  • 1 middle-aged woman

Two persons out of the six had multiple comorbidities, while three others had only one comorbidity and one person had no known medical conditions.

Some of the comorbidities included diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, a history of strokes, liver disease and Alzheimer’s disease.

Total deaths by vaccination status as at February 10, 2022: 2, 887 (not fully vaccinated), 224 (fully vaccinated), 390 prior to the vaccination programme.

Patients in hospital: 439

Total persons fully vaccinated: 696,708

Total persons not fully vaccinated:703,292

Boosters administered: 118, 727

Patients in the parallel healthcare system who were not fully vaccinated were 12,550 or 83.8%,  while 2,427 or 16.2% were fully vaccinated based on data from July 22, 2021, to January 26, 2022.

February 1: 8 deaths, 470 cases;

February 2: 11 deaths, 660 cases;

February 3: 10 deaths, 638 cases;

February 4: 15 deaths, 581 cases;

February 5: 6 deaths, 867 cases;

February 6: 6 deaths, 505 cases;

February 7: 7 deaths, 573 cases;

February 8: 19 deaths, 926 cases;

February 9: 9 deaths, 756 cases;

February 10: 6 deaths, 738 cases
