THE 20-foot container that will be used to store the additional bodies of Covid-19 patients should be fully operational by Thursday.

In a Facebook story post on Tuesday, Secretary of the Division of Health, Wellness and Social Protection Dr Faith B. Yisrael wrote that measures were being put in place to maintain all required standards for such a facility.

Dr B. Yisrael said, “The operationalisation of the supplemental mortuary container is being managed in a way that ensures that the required standards are met. The container is on site. Thus far, the refrigeration systems have passed the required tests and the electrical components have been installed. The final phase of the process is the modification of the internal shelving, which is ongoing. We anticipate full operation of the supplemental mortuary by Thursday 30, 2021.”

She further told AZPNews.com on Wednesday that so far, there has been no negative feedback from Tobagonians as many of them see such a facility as necessary at this time.

The division is also hoping that the population understands the seriousness of the impact of Covid-19 on life and adopt new behavioural patterns to reduce the spread and effect of the deadly virus, Dr B.Yisrael added.
