Team TTO 8th in Men’s 4x400m relay

Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Athletes claimed eighth in the world at the men’s 4×400 meter relay final today.

The men’s team featuring Deon Lendore, Jereem Richards, Machel Cedenio, and Dwight St Hillaire completed the relay in a time of 3:00.85, 2.04 seconds late of Italy’s time.

The team originally placed third in their semi-final heat yesterday with a best time of 2:58.60 which automatically qualified them for the finals alongside the United States of America (2:58.77) and Botswana (2:58.33).

Caribbean neighbour Jamaica which had placed second in their semi-final heat with a time of 2:59.37 came in sixth with a time of 2:58.76 today in the final.

The winners of the gold medal were the USA Team of runners featuring Michael Cherry, Michael Norman, Bryce Deadmon and Rai Benjamin with a time of 2:55.70 while the Netherlands and Botswana took silver and bronze respectively.
