PARENTS involving children in protests, message walks or large public gatherings are not making a wise choice and should law enforcement be used, unfortunately they too will have to also pay the consequences.

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley on Wednesday during Parliament said, “I don’t know of any young children who find themselves making decisions to go out and break the law causing police to fire tear gas at them.”

Referring to the incident on Sunday in which members of the police service fired tear gas at persons gathered at the Queen’s Park Savannah which included children- an action that was condemned by many, Member of Parliament for Naparima Rodney Charles inquired of the Prime Minister if any consideration was given to the children in the group before the tear gas was used.

To Charles directly, Dr Rowley said, “If you are concerned about young children that you have, you as a parent must be concerned about not putting your children in harm’s way.”

Dr Rowley also said the MP was well aware of the “Use of Force” policy which includes tear gas.

The individuals who gathered on Sunday are not deterred and are planning again to re-gather at the same location for the same purposes of voicing their opinions and concerns on Friday.
