A NURSE at the Fyzabad Health Centre and five others have been arrested for selling false Covid-19 vaccination cards.

One of the suspects has tested positive for Covid-19.

Reports stated that Fraud Squad officers went to the Fyzabad Health Centre where they observed a nurse pretending to administer a vaccine to a person.

The nurse then issued a Covid-19 vaccination card to the person for a fee.

The suspect was arrested and further enquiries resulted in the arrest of several other persons.

Police said special arrangements have since been made by the TTPS executive and medical personnel to ensure the safety and welfare of the officers and the Covid-19 positive suspect.

Meanwhile, in the Northern Division, police arrested a clerk attached to the North Central Regional Health Authority.

The clerk was observed receiving a sum of cash after handing over a vaccination card to an individual.

This led to arrests of all suspects and both the cards and cash were seized.

Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh speaking at Wednesday’s Covid-19 press conference said that two months ago security measures were instituted and because of this arrests have been made
