A DRAFT donation agreement for the Pfizer vaccines approved for children ages five to 11 has been sent to the Attorney General’s office for final signings.

The date for receipt is still not decided says Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh.

Speaking at the Ministry of Health’s virtual press conference on Wednesday, Deyalsingh said once the document was signed, Trinidad and Tobago will be one step closer to receiving the much-anticipated vaccine from Spain especially with the full re-opening of schools.

He said, “All vaccines which come to the country whether it is purchased or donations, there are some legal hurdles to cross so we have received the draft donation agreement. It has been sent to the Office of the Attorney General and Legal Affairs for vetting. Once that is signed off., then we move to actual logistics which means getting the vaccines in, getting flight details and so on.”

“ We don’t have a date as yet,” Deyalsingh added.

He said it was also requested that Government send proof that the vaccines are legally registered in Trinidad and Tobago.

The Government of Spain has promised to donate 40,000 vaccines of the paediatric formulae of the Pfizer vaccine that received World Health Organization (WHO) approval in February.
