HEALTH Minister Terrence Deyalsingh says the Ministry of Health will refuse no good advice in combatting the raging Covid-19 virus.
And Member of Parliament for Mayaro Ruston Paray is pleased that Deyalsingh is open to suggestions in dealing with the deadly disease.
Paray had issued a statement on social media stating that the constituency of Mayaro had taken certain approaches in combating the virus which have proved to be successful over the last five months and he was willing to share those measures for the benefit of the entire country.
On Monday, at the Ministry of Health’s virtual media conference, Deyalsingh said, “If he sends that blueprint to the Ministry of Health, we are willing to engage with anybody who has the best interest of Trinidad and Tobago at heart.”
He said, “He may even have some good suggestions but what I will advise him to do is to send it to me and once there is something useful in this national fight, it will be looked at. We refuse no good advice.”
Deyalsingh was responding to a question from AZPNews.com and his comment welcoming Paray comes after he slammed former Caroni East MP Dr Tim Gopeesingh at the same news conference. He said that Dr Gopeesingh owed his life to the health officials of the Ministry of Health after he was treated fro contracting Covid-19.
Paray told AZPNews.com that the Mataro Covid-19 Task Force stands willing and available to assist.
He said, “Enlightened leadership should have seen the Minister liaising with our team with a view to utilising whatever measures are applicable since I did keep the Minister fully informed of all our work. The Mayaro team stands available and interested in assisting our nation in this time of crisis.”
Paray added, “I strongly urge the Minister to adopt a collaborative approach to confront this scourge of our times. As a responsible Member of Parliament, I am committed to working with any organisation, institutions and individuals towards saving lives and reducing the risk to our citizens.”
