FOR those who remembered the 1990 insurrection in Trinidad and Tobago, the photos and video in this story may bring back memories. But this article is an account of what is taking place today – the Indian Arrival Day Holiday (May 31, 2021).

This is the first daytime curfew since that time but this one is to help stem the spread of the Covid-19 virus that as of yesterday had accounted for 479 deaths since the pandemic started last year.

A curfew is in effect today and also on the Corpus Christi holiday on Thursday from 10am to 5am the next day.

Movement is limited to only essential services with Police Commissioner Gary Griffith promising that his men will be out in full force.

AZPNews.com Assignments Editor Sue-Ann Wayow and Chief Photographer Azlan Mohammed were out today, with the necessary curfew passes issued by the police commissioner, to capture the scenes as the new restrictions started.
