Adverse Weather Today

AN adverse weather alert (Yellow Level) is in effect for Trinidad and Tobago.
It came into effect at midnight and is expected to end at 4 pm today (Monday).
The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) stated that there will be rainfall and showers of varying intensities which were expected to hit Trinidad from the south-western region from early morning and can persist intermittently until late afternoon, further affecting other areas across Trinidad and eventually Tobago.

It stated, “There is a 60% to 70% (medium to high) chance of thunderstorms with significant lightning activity. Gusty winds in excess of 55km/hr are likely especially near heavier showers or thunderstorms.”
The impacts include isolated flash floods, localised street flooding and ponding can cause temporary traffic disruptions and landslips are possible in areas so prone. Gusty winds can lead to broken tree branches and loose/unsecured items being displaced. Seas can become agitated due to strong winds.

The TTMS is asking people to be alert to cloud-to-ground lightning activity and do not venture into flood waters and take the necessary precautions in sea-related activities.
