The Met office stated, “Northerly high energy swells are expected to impact nearshore areas along Tobago, Northern and Western coastlines of Trinidad.  These swells can result in higher surfs and occasional battering waves. Conditions can be exacerbated during high tides.”

All marine interests should carefully monitor the nearshore coastal sea conditions and exercise caution along affected areas.

Regarding the Adverse Weather Alert Yellow Level, the TTMS stated, “While mixed conditions are expected over the next 24 hours, there is a high (70%) potential for moderate to heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms initially favoring Tobago and offshore areas from early morning.

“Activity is expected to spread across Trinidad as the day progresses. Localised flooding and gusty winds in excess of 55 km/h are likely in areas of heavy showers or thunderstorms.”
