‘Ziggy’ Ordered to Stay Away from Family

FOR allegedly abusing his family members, a Port-of-Spain man has been ordered by the court to stay away from them.

Sherwin Bute, also known as “Ziggy,” was given the order to stay away from the residence of the alleged victims by Deputy Chief Magistrate Cherril-Anne Antoine, as part of his bail conditions after appearing virtually before her at the Port-of-Spain Magistrates’ Court on Friday, police reported on Saturday.

He was charged with two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, one count of grievous bodily harm and one count of cruelty to a child.  He was granted bail in the amount of $80,000 and is expected to reappear in court on February 26.

Police stated that four victims reported to police that they were assaulted by a man following an argument.

The case was referred to the Port-of-Spain Gender-Based Violence Unit (GBVU) where PC Jones was assigned to lead the investigations. He was formally charged on Thursday with the offences. The investigations were spearheaded by Superintendent Claire Guy-Alleyne and supervised by Insp Lystra Bridglal.
