Water Problems in North East Trinidad

ALREADY dealing with flood waters, residents of north east now have to face a disruption in their pipe-borne water supply.

A leak in a transmission pipeline has caused a disruption in water supply to the residents.

The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) in a media release on Wednesday stated that the leak has been discovered on the 42-inch transmission pipeline off the North Oropouche Water Treatment Plant  located in the cross-country Valencia area in the vicinity of Daniel Trace.
The Authority is currently mobilising equipment and materials to commence repair works which will require operations at the plant to be stopped.

WASA stated that due to the location and the nature of the works required, it is expected that the shutdown will last from 12 noon on Wednesday to 12 noon Thursday.
Customers are advised that it may take up to 48 hours for the service to normalize to some affected areas in accordance with established water supply schedules, following the completion of these repairs.
A limited truck-borne water service will be available upon request which can be requested through use of the mobile WASA Services App or use of the Customer Portal available on the Authority’s website: www.wasa.gov.tt.

Affected areas include: Sangre Grande and environs inclusive of Guaico Tamana Road, Sangre Chiquito and Toco Road; Cumuto, Wallerfield, Tumpuna Road, Malabar Phases 1, 3 & 4, Brazil Village, La Horquetta, Carapo, O’Meara Road (inclusive of Industrial Estate), Mausica Road (North & South), Maloney Gardens, Five Rivers, Bon Air West, Oropune Village, Piarco, Manzanilla and environs.
