T&T Murder Toll now Stands at 224

THE murder toll for this year to date stands at 224 with three murders on Wednesday.

Last year for the same period, there  were 273.

Police reported that around 7.15am, Sookdeo Ramlal, 51 was found at his home at Wilson Road, Penal lying motionless bearing gunshot wounds about his body.

 

At 9.40am, an assailant dressed in a coverall fired several shots at Ryan Scott, 32 of Bayshore, Marabella. He escaped by running along Bayshore Road, Marabella. Scott was  found lying on his back lying motionless with apparent gunshots.

And at around 11.40 am, Triston Thomas Alias “Max” of Clifton Street East Dry River was in company of a woman at Trinity Grocery located at the corner of Queen and George Street Port-of-Spain as they usually go there every Wednesday to pick up goods when she left him and proceeded to the park and shop facilities located on Queen Street .

While on her way there, she observed two  men talking to Thomas, and a short while after heard several loud explosions and was informed that the man who brought her was shot. Upon the arrival of officers, they observed a man slumped behind the driver’s seat of a black Nissan Navara with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the head. He was conveyed to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital by members of the Port of Spain Task Force where he  later succumbed to his injuries.

Constable Moonsammy is investigating that murder.

Also at Las Lomas, on Tuesday, around 6.50pm  information received from Command Centre a report of shooting at  Bolivar Ave, off Saroop Ave. Las Lomas. The deceased, Shyan Azizullah, 56 was found lying on the ground in a pool of blood. The body was taken to Arima Health Facility and Azizullah,  a building contractor was pronounced dead at 7.25pm.
