CERTAIN parts of the Toco and Paria Main Road are closed off to vehicular traffic.

This is due to the landslips and flooding in the area following the passage of Potential Tropical Cyclone #2 over Trinidad and Tobago on Tuesday night.

The Ministry of Works and Transport in a media release on Wednesday night stated, “Given the ongoing safety hazard, the Ministry of Works and Transport and the Sangre Grande Regional Corporation will commence clean-up efforts tomorrow morning (Thursday 30th June, 2022).

“Members of the general public should exercise extreme caution when traversing this area. The Ministry of Works and Transport apologizes for any inconvenience caused and thanks the general public for their patience, and continued cooperation.”

Another roadway along the North Coast Road in the vicinity of Las Cuevas was also closed off on Wednesday evening due to a landslide along with a fallen tree.

The San Juan/Laventille Regional Corporation has since re-issued a notice stating that motorists could now use the road between La Filette and Las Cuevas again.
