COVID-19 cases will spread more quickly in urban areas than in rural areas.

County Medical Officer of Health for St Andrews/St David  Dr Allana Best said, “Where there are people, we will find that the virus circulates.”

She was speaking during the Ministry of Health’s virtual press conference on Monday.

Dr Best used the ERHA that covers a wide area on the eastern coast as an example.

She said there were more cases in the densely populated areas in Sangre Grande and Valencia than Matelot or Mayaro.

She said, “There is a distinction between urban and rural. More urban areas where there are more persons, the virus obviously circulates more commonly in that environment.”

Pupils in quarantine may have to reschedule exams

And due to Covid-19 quarantine measures, some secondary school pupils would have missed examinations that are currently undergoing.

These examinations include those set the by the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC).

Best said more information should be available from the Ministry of Education regarding other arrangements.
