RESIDENTS of Cooperative Drive, Simeon Road in Petit Valley staged a protest on Friday morning to complain about the poor conditions of their roads.

They say that they have complained to the Diego Martin Central MP Symon De Nobriga to no avail.

About a dozen of them held placards and demanded answers.

One resident Stephanie Kirk said they were frustrated and complaints to De Nobriga and the Diego Martin Regional Corporation have fallen on deaf ears. She said the corporation told them that it had no money to do the work.

She said there were potholes and a part of the road was about to fall off and this could cause a major landslide that will affect power and water lines.

Krik said police broke up the protest since they decided to do it at short notice and were unable to get permission from the police commissioner in time.

She said some residents were ready to block roads in the area and burn tyres to highlight their plight but she wanted to first try a peaceful resolution such as the protest on Friday.

De Nobriga did not respond to a WhatsApp message sent by AZP News.
