According to reports, the shopkeeper was arrested and a firearm and ammunition seized when officers conducted an anti-crime exercise on Thursday.

During the exercise, several searches of known drug blocks, abandoned houses and derelict vehicles were conducted, police said.

Around 6.30pm, there was a search of a roadside shop located at Woodbine Trace, Upper Bournes Road, St James.

Police said the search was conducted in the presence of the proprietor, a 41-year-old man, where one chrome-coloured Taurus Pistol loaded with ten rounds of .40 calibre ammunition were found and seized.

He was arrested and taken to the Four Roads Police Station.

The exercise was spearheaded by Snr Supt Kelvern Thompson, coordinated by Insp. Reyes, supervised by Sgt Carmona, Cpl Khan and a party of officers.
