Parasram Reappointed to EMA Board

CHIEF Medical Officer Dr Roshan Parasram is reappointed to the board of the Environmental Management Authority (EMA) of Trinidad and Tobago.

On Thursday, Minister of Planning and Development Camille Robinson-Regis distributed the official instruments for the EMA, Green Fund and Chaguaramas Development Authority (CDA) in separate brief ceremonies at the ministry’s head office in Port of Spain.

According to a release from the Ministry of Planning and Development, Robinson -Regis encouraged the newly-appointed members to be catalysts for national inspiration, facilitating national entrepreneurialism, environmental stewardship and increased national pride, especially at this time when citizens need greater opportunities and hope.

She said, “With effective environmental management and appropriate support actions, every single variable that is vital to the health and well-being of Trinidad and Tobago, be it citizen health and safety, economic stability, conservation and preservation of our natural and built heritage and obviously the viability of our natural and human resources will prosper, and by extension so will the people of this nation.”

Members of the Green Fund Advisory Committee were:

  • Chairman Camille Mohan-Cayenne;
  • Steve Jordan;
  • Carlton Roberts;
  • Maurissa Pierre;
  • Kelli Danglad;
  • Joel Roper; Michele Davis; Eula Rogers; and
  • Jeremy Ramroop.

Members of the Board of the Chaguaramas Development Authority included:

  • Chairman Narine Lutchmedial;
  • Juliet Roberts-Antoine;
  • Annabelle Sooklal;
  • Robert Cezair;
  • Wendy Inniss-Demas;
  • Denise Williams Dummett;
  • Matthew Joseph;  Raees Patel; and
  • Dr Ancil Kirk.

The EMA board members have been appointed for a fourth consecutive term. They are:

  • Chairman Nadra Nathai-Gyan;
  • John Julien;
  • Vyash Nandlal;
  • Garth Ottley;
  • Dr Roshan Parasram;
  • Gordon Paul;
  • Althea Thompson;
  • Jacqueline Wilson;
  • Judy Daniel; and
  • Andrew Castor.

Nathai-Gyan, Nandlal, Wilson, Ottley and Judy Daniel have been appointed as trustees of the Environmental Trust Fund of the EMA
