OF all the Covid-19 vaccinations administered in Trinidad and Tobago, there are only five reports of adverse effects after taking a Covid-19 vaccine.

All those cases have been managed and recovered.

Deyalsingh said some one million doses of a vaccine have been administered and the reported number of five was minuscule.

He also emphasised the difference between side effects which were more common with any injection than adverse effects.

The side effects were normally resolved in about 24 to 48 hours and include soreness in the arm, tiredness and fever after a first dose. With the second dose, there were fewer reported side effects he said.

Of the four types of vaccines available, the AstraZeneca, Sinopharm, Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson, persons who received the Sinopharm vaccine reported less side effects.

Deyalsingh said, “People are reporting much less side effects with the Sinopharm vaccine. Our local setting seems to have a much better side effect profile.”

He added that there was no report of adverse effect after taking that particular vaccine.
