Online Classes Continue for Primary Schools in Term 3

SECONDARY Entrance Assessment (SEA) students continue online classes when term three opens on April 12.

A release from the Education Ministry on Tuesday stated that forms four, five and six students will operate at school with the hybrid format which obtained in term two. It stated that these students in forms four to six will access physical classes only for practical subject components.

The release stated that all other secondary, primary and early childhood care and education (ECCE) students will continue with the online or package systems.

It stated, “All educational material provided by the Ministry of Education via television, radio, print media and online will continue to be available for student and parent access.

Secondary Schools:

Physically re-open on April 12, for forms four to six students only utilising a hybrid system:

  • Online classes/packages for teaching to continue as far as possible
  • Students to report to school for the completion of practicals, SBAs and internal assessments
  • Face to face classes to be held only where absolutely necessary

All other secondary school students are not to report physically for school.

Primary and ECCE schools:

  • At the primary and ECCE levels, students will not return to their physical classrooms at the start of Term III on April 12, 2021.
  • All classes should be held virtually and students who require packages shall utilise their usual method of collection with all safety protocols observed.

Entry protocols to be enforced at schools must include:

  • The wearing of school uniform
  • Masks must be worn at all times except for the purpose of eating and drinking
  • Handwashing
  • Temperature checks
  • Collection of contact tracing data in the case of visitors to the compound (Visitors to the school compound must be kept to a minimum).
