THERE was no TV6 Weekend News on Sunday evening as the station’s operations were affected by a fire at Express House.
The television station that is part of One Caribbean Media Ltd posted an advisory on social media.
It stated, “We regretfully inform our loyal viewers that there will be no TV6 Weekend News this evening due to circumstances beyond our control. There is a fire in a building adjacent to Express House which has affected our operations. The Fire Service has cut electricity to our building and advised that generator power should not be used. The lower level of Express House is smoke-filled at this time and staff have been ordered away from the building.”
Express House is located at Independence Square Port-of-Spain and the Express newspapers and TV6 are headquartered there.
The incident occurred around 4.39 pm with persons observing smoke coming from a nearby mini-mart.
Up to late Sunday, fire officers were still attempting to determine a cause for the blaze.
