KYLE Mayers almost singlehandedly led Barbados Tridents to a 36-run victory against Jamaica Tallawahs, at the Queen’s Park Oval on Wednesday.
In the 14th match of the CPL 2020 tournament, he dominated with the bat in the 20-over innings.
While wickets fell, Mayers played some magnificent shots for a brilliantly played 85 runs from 59 balls.
It earned him the player of the match title.
Mitchell Santner was the next player to contribute with the bat, 20 runs in 19 balls, and he remained unbeaten at the end of the match.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman was the pick of the bowlers with his three-wickets haul.
The Tallawahs began their chase of 149 but it proved too much as wickets fell in quick succession.
Nkrumah Bonner top scored with 31 runs before he was caught by Rashid Khan off the bowling of Corey Anderson.
Tridents bowlers’ Santner, Jason Holder, Khan and Raymon Reifer each took two wickets a piece as they restricted the Tallawahs to 112 for nine.
More action continues at 10am on Thursday as second placed St Lucia Zouks face the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots at the same venue.
At 5.30 pm, Trinbago Knight Riders come up against the Guyana Amazon Warriors.
