Ibrahim Replaces Ali in the Senate for PNM

DR Muhammad Yunus Ibrahim is sworn in as a Government Senator on Friday.

He replaced Imam Sheraz Ali who was nominated following death of the former minister of energy Franklin Khan. Ali served for only three sittings of the Senate one when he was sworn in on April 27 and then on May 11 and May 18.

The People’s National Movement (PNM) has congratulated Dr Ibrahim on his appointment.

Dr Ibrahim is the Head Surgeon at the San Juan Dental Clinic and the Denius Dental Clinic. He holds a BSc in Biochemistry and a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of the West Indies.

Dr Ibrahim is a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI) and holds a Mastership in Implantology from the ICOI.

An active member of the Islamic faith, he served as a member on the board of directors of the Capital City Mosque (Jama Masjid).

In addition, Dr Ibrahim serves on a number of committees within his faith community, and is passionate about serving the most vulnerable in society.

He was the former president of the Dental Students Association of Trinidad and Tobago, and once served as the President of the Supermarket Association of T&T.

Dr. Ibrahim said, “It is extremely humbling to have been asked by the Honorable Prime Minister to serve in this capacity. Our Prime Minister has a clear vision for our country, he possesses a wealth of knowledge, and under his leadership, we are assured of a bright and well-catered future for all in this nation. I certainly look forward to serving to the best of my ability.”
