First Virgin Atlantic Flight in 2 Years Arrives in Tobago

INTERNATIONAL passengers were welcomed by the rhythm of sweet steelpan music as they exited the first Virgin Atlantic flight in Tobago in almost two years on Saturday.

In a release,  the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) Info Hub on Monday stated that flight VS 177 of  Virgin Atlantic departed London’s Heathrow Airport to Tobago’s ANR Robinson International Airport and passengers were greeted by dancers and drummers.

The airline’s route to Tobago will be conducted twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

At the arrival, Assistant Secretary for the Division of Tourism, Culture, Antiquities and Transportation Megan Morrison and other THA representatives were present to welcome the passengers.

The UK was Tobago’s largest source market and the airline’s flight followed British Airways return to Tobago on January 10.

Meanwhile, THA  Chief Secretary Farley Augustine said on the island,  infrastructural work was also being done at some of the local tourists’ attractions.

“The THA plans to start work on the Little Tobago jetty during the first quarter of 2022. We are preparing for peak season in the Easter period, and we don’t want  to miss another year of income for our stakeholders.”

In addition,  he highlighted that the Infrastructure Division, recently collected data for road and drainage development at Pigeon Point as developmental work from the Pigeon Point Junction to Swallows forms part of the THA’S priority projects for the second quarter of Fiscal ’22.
