Brazil 4 vs South Korea 1

BRAZIL, Brazil, Brazil … what a show! They delivered a firm message that they are the team to beat if you want the World Cup. It seems that they already have one hand on the cup and it will take a great team with a lot of luck to get pass this team.

The Selecao are chasing a first World Cup since 2002 and they look set to deliver. Vinicius Junior opened the scoring as early as the seventh minute, Neymar with a penalty in the 13th, Richarlison (29th) and Lucas Paqueta (37th) as Brazil closed this game off in the first half. Paik Seung-ho did get one for South Korea in the 76th, but that was of no consequence to the final outcome.

Neymar is on 76 goals and only one shy of the great Pele’s record.

Brazil were in dominant form and played with freedom and innovation with excellent link play between the players. It was a joy to watch and after 30 minutes this was no longer a contest.

Croatia 1 vs Japan 1

Penalties Croatia 3 vs Japan 1

In the first game to go into extra time and penalties Croatia held their nerves and will now face Brazil. Japan seemed totally unaware on how to take penalties and missed their first three.

This game was exciting with 30 shots at goal with Croatia having 17. Each team had four shots at goal and one goal each. Japan struck first in the half through Daizen Maeda(44th).  It seemed that Japan would have been a giant killer after beating both Spain and Germany. Ivan Perisic(55th) equalized and the game went into extra time but neither team could secure victory.

Croatian goalkeeper Dominic Livakovic was the hero.
