Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh said protecting the public remained a priority and therefore, the relaunch was to ensure the public had access to vaccines to build their defence against Covid-19 and the influenza virus.

With the impending Carnival season and the expected influx of visitors, the public is being encouraged to get vaccinated.

The ministry stated, “The vaccination drive will seek to reach and encourage persons who have never received a primary dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, to get vaccinated and persons who have received the Covid-19 vaccine to get a booster dose. The influenza season began in October, therefore, persons are encouraged to get their influenza vaccine at the nearest mass vaccination site or at any health centre across the country.”

Immunocompromised persons and the elderly are also encouraged to get vaccinated and boosted due to pre-existing comorbidities and waning immunity.

The vaccination sites will operate from January 6 to February 4 from 10 am to 5 pm.
