Coast Guardsmen in Court for Murder

THREE members of the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard appear in court after being charged for murder.

Kaydan Boucaud, an Able Body Seaman, of St Ann’s Road, Port of Spain, Elijah Julien, Able Body Seaman, of North Upper 7th Avenue, Malick, Barataria, and Emmarson Pardassie, Writer, of L’anse Mitan Road, Carenage,  appeared virtually before Magistrate Maureen Baboolal-Gafoor, at the Port of Spain 5th Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

They were all charged on Monday with offence after advice from Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard SC.

The matter was adjourned to February 23 at the Port of Spain’s 8th Magistrates Court, a release from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) stated.

The men were arrested on January 18 after officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI) Region One conducte investigations into the circumstances surrounding the disappearance and death of Teddy Sylvester, 34, who was allegedly kidnapped on January 9.

His decomposed body was discovered on January 13 at Cadet Road, Cameron Hill, Petit Valley. 

The investigation was supervised by Ag ASP Simon, Inspectors Lynch and Mongroo, Sgt Ramsumair, all of the HBI Region One, with assistance from ASP Ramdass and Insp Stewart of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force and the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard, Insp Grant along with officers attached to the Western Division Task Force.
