THE body of an elderly man that was going to be buried did not arrive at the cemetery as the hearse transporting his body caught afire.
The funeral was being held in Las Cuevas and the incident occurred in Maracas on Wednesday.
A video being shared on social media showed residents of Maracas watching on in shock as the fire occurred around 1 pm.
The body of Cyril Valentine that lay in a coffin could not be recovered. Today was his birthday and wedding anniversary.
He had passed away on February 1 as a result of a heart attack and his funeral date was actually set on the day he was born and also, the day he got married to his wife who passed away last year.
Dennie’s Funeral Home was in charge of the funeral. The two funeral attendants from the funeral home received no injuries.
