Bar Owner, Patrons Face $70,000 in Fines for Safe Zone Breach

AN Arima bar owner and nine of his patrons were issued fixed penalty notices totalling $70,000 after being found breaching a safe zone.

A Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) release on Sunday stated that on Friday officers of the Northern Division Safe Zone Unit and an official of the Ministry of Health received information that led them to a bar located along Hollis Avenue, Arima.

Upon arrival, the officers discovered unvaccinated persons consuming alcohol on the premises, the release stated.

The nine patrons were fined $5,000 each for failure to comply with requirements for entry into a safe zone under the health regulations.

The owner of the bar was issued with a $25,000 fine for failure of the owner/occupier to comply with requirements for entry into a business.
