ATTORNEY Rajiv Persad is the fifth nominee to the Police Service Commission (PolSC).
He joins retired Justice of Appeal Judith Jones; Head of Wealth Management, Firstline Securities Limited Maxine King; Academic Head of the Caribbean Institute for Security and Public Safety Ian Ramdhanie; and management consultant Maxine Attong.
A release from the Office of the President on Friday stated that after consulting with Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley and Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar, President Paula-Mae Weekes issued a notification in respect of Persad as a nominee for appointment to the PolSC.
There are now five notifications before the Clerk of the House of Representatives, the release stated.
The names will now go for before the Lower House for affirmative resolution.
There are currently no commissioners after the previous ones all resigned in the imbroglio concerning the appointment of the police commissioner.
