Armour says he Respects Office of DPP

ATTORNEY General Reginald Armour says he will respect the independence of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). 

The Attorney General met with DPP Roger Gaspard, SC, and other members of staff on Wednesday at the Winsure Building, Richmond Street, Port-of-Spain.

A release from the AG’s office said that discussions and further engagement on matters of administrative concerns were initiated between Armour and Gaspard.

“The honourable Attorney General reiterated his commitment to the Office of the DPP and assured respect would be maintained. He emphasised that discussions such as these were the first of many to come, with the objective of giving further support and enhancing available resources. The honourable Attorney General further highlighted and supported the independence of the Office of the DPP as enshrined in the Constitution,” the release stated.

The ministry stated that the work conducted by the DPP’s office must be commended and Armour also assured continued dedication to the staff, departments and statutory bodies under the remit of the ministry.
