Speaking at the Ministry of Health’s virtual media conference, Deyalsingh said he was making the announcement for Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley who was travelling to the United Nations climate conference in Scotland.

Previously although restaurants and bars could be opened for businesses, the consumption of alcohol on premises was not allowed and restaurant and bar owners had expressed concerns.

Deyalsingh said, “Safe zone entities will be allowed to sell alcohol on premises for consumption from November 1.”

That was the only change he said he was authorised to make at this point.

Dr Rowley had said that from November 1, restaurants and bars would be able to resume full service given the present trend in Covid-19 positive cases.
