APPROXIMATELY 150,000 in public health fixed penalty notices have been issued in the past few days at five bars.
Police reported on Friday that the notices were issued at five bars in the Central Division during safety zone enforcement exercises conducted between December 17 and December 23.
Three of the bars were located along Southern Main Road in California, Point Lisas, and Claxton Bay while two were located at Cedar Hill Road, Claxton Bay.
The five owners were issued fines of $25,000 each for failure to comply with requirements for entry into a business.
Five patrons, one at each of the bars, were also issued fines of $5,000 each for entry into premises without being vaccinated.
The exercises were coordinated by Snr Supt Curt Simon, Supt Tewarie, and supervised by ASP Ragoo. It included Sgt Thompson, acting Sgt Andrews and PC Mathura.
A total of 47 establishments were visited by the Safe Zone Unit during the exercises and bar owners were reminded to comply with the Public Health Ordinance Act.
