Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh on Saturday said the third trance of Pfizer vaccines from the US should arrive sometime next week.

He made the announcement during the Ministry of Health’s virtual press conference.

Deyalsingh said, “All the centres have been alerted, all the County Medical Offices of Health, all the CEOs and will be pulling stock back from the system from around lunchtime on Monday. We are just alerting the public that from Tuesday, the first of March, no Pfizer vaccine will be administered anywhere in Trinidad and Tobago, just for a couple of days while we await the 75,000 that is coming in.”

The minister said he expected there will be a lull in the booster programme as a result of no Pfizer vaccines for a period but reassured that it will only be temporarily.

Deyalsingh said, “The booster programme will continue because you can be boosted now with anything, you can be boosted with Sinopharm or J&J.”

The number of Pfizer vaccines to be destroyed via incineration would be approximately 260,000, the minister stated.
