TRINIDAD and Tobago will get 24,000 Covid-19 AstraZeneca vaccines from Bermuda and St Vincent and the Grenadines.

This was revealed by Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs Dr Amery Browne at a post-cabinet news conference on Thursday.

He said that St Vincent will donate 16,000 of the vaccines with an expiry date at the end of June while Bermuda will also give T&T 8,000.

Dr Browne said the Air Guard collected the vaccines from St Vincent and returned Piarco International Airport on a C-26B aircraft on Thursday.

He said delivery of the vaccines from Bermuda will be finalised next week.

Dr Browne said there was vaccine hesitancy in some smaller Caribbean islands and the Ministry of Health did not anticipate any wastage as the vaccines will fit into their immunization programme.

He said T&T was also working assiduously to get Covid-19 vaccines from the US, after President Joe Biden announced that he will give away $80 million AstraZeneca vaccines.

Dr Browne said the feedback from the US has been positive.
