OVER $4.5million in narcotics were seized by officers in Port-of-Spain on Wednesday.

Police reported that the narcotics were seized by officers of the Western Division’s Gang Unit, during an anti-crime exercise conducted between 12.30pm and 8.30pm.

Police searched a building in Port-of-Spain which was occupied by a man and resulted in three packets containing a quantity of cocaine being discovered in his possession.

The officers then proceeded to conduct a search of a motor vehicle which was parked in the vicinity of the building with a lone male occupant.

That search resulted in officers finding six packets also containing cocaine. The drugs have a combined weight of 3.3 kilogrammes and an approximate street value of $4,555,000.

The two men, one 37 and the other 34 both of Diego Martin, were arrested.

The exercise was coordinated by Snr Supt Kelvern Thompson, Supt. Smith and acting ASP Coggins, and included officers of the Western Division’s Gang Unit and the Canine Unit.
