CAL Loses US$14.2M During Covid-19

CARIBBEAN Airlines (CAL) has operated at a loss of US$14.2 million or TT $96.1 million between March 23 and April 30.

This according to Minister in the Ministry of Finance Allyson West in response to a question from United National Congress Senator Wade Mark in the Upper House at the Red House in Port-of-Spain on Monday. He wanted to find out how did the Covid-19 pandemic affected the operations of the airline.

West said the airline is required to keep its aircraft leases up to date and ensure they were airworthy and all its systems were ready for the resumption of flights.

Senate President Christine Kangaloo did not allow a question from Mark on the regulations that governs political expressions on social media by CAL staff.
