A 59-YEAR-OLD man from Chaguanas was killed on Wednesday night.
The victim who was discovered with his throat slit, has been identified as Stephen Sookhan from Oasis Gardens, Endeavour.
Police have identified the motive of his killing to be robbery.
According to reports, at around 11 pm, a police officer who is also a neighbour was informed of a loud banging noise at Sookhan’s residence.
The officer arrived shortly at the scene and reportedly saw a man of Spanish descent, slim built, about six feet tall, dressed in long blue pants and bareback, stooping in a dark area under a mango tree in the front yard of Sookhan’s home.
He announced himself as police officer to the man by showing his Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) identification and badge.
The officer observed Sookhan’s front door open and upon checking, found Sookhan lying motionless, face up, with feet bound and injuries to the head in a bedroom.
The man of Spanish descent allegedly found in Sookhan’s yard was arrested and taken to the Chaguanas Police Station.
He has been identified as a 21-year-old Venezuelan, also of Oasis Greens, Endeavour, Chaguanas.
