In August, 2021, the three-year contract of former Commissioner of Police Gary Griffith came to an end and the position was once again opened to suitable candidates.
Griffith reapplied for the position but due to processes later deemed unlawful, the previous process was scrapped, the former PolSC dismantled and questions were asked of the highest authorities in the land, President Paula-Mae Weeks and Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley for alleged involvement.
On April 30, Griffith officially launched his political party the National Transformation Alliance (NTA) and has since become vocal on national issues.
