PRIME Minister Dr Keith Rowley declines an invitation by Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar to attend the anti-crime talks she has been organising across Trinidad and Tobago.

Speaking at a press conference at Whitehall on Tuesday, Dr Rowley said, “You think I have time to pappyshow myself around the country with the opposition leader. I mean, I have no problem if the opposition leader wants to meet with me but this is just pappyshow just going on here.

“And you may not agree with me, you do not have to agree with me, I am just telling you what I think.”

He asked was exactly was expected by these crime talks?

Told by AZP News that people have expressed a lot of concerns about the crime situation at these talks, Dr Rowley replied, “Expressing concerns about the crime situation does not address the crime situation.”

He was then told that it was for him to address the crime situation through policy Dr Rowley said, “And when I bring policy to meet them what do they do with it?” He blamed the opposition for not supporting legislation needing a special majority.

The anti-crime talks by the opposition have taken place at La Joya Complex in St Joseph and at Naparima College in San Fernando where people have come forward to give their experiences as victims of crime and also offering some solutions.
