Two Tobago Schools Closed for Sanitisation

TWO secondary schools in Tobago are closed for sanitisation.  

Bishop’s High School in Scarborough is scheduled to be closed on Wednesday and re-open on Thursday, a press release from the Division of Education, Innovation and Energy on Tuesday stated.

All pupils in Forms Four to Six will resume on-line classes until  Thursday.  

The division in another release on Wednesday, stated that the Signal Hill Secondary School will be suspended immediately to facilitate sanitisation of the school’s compound.

Pupils will revert to virtual classes until further advised. 

Physical school was allowed from October  20 for all pupils in the upper forms regardless of their vaccination status. Pupils in Forms One to Three continue to remain engaged in online classes until otherwise advised.   

The Division stated, “As a word of pre-caution, the Division wishes to enlighten all parents and guardians that vaccines are regarded as the best form of protection against Covid-19 and advise that vaccines are available for all students. The Division of Education, Innovation and Energy remains committed to providing a safe and secure school environment as the health and safety of our students and teachers remain the number one priority.”

The Division also stated, “Members of staff, students and school personnel are reminded to practice all precautionary safety measures if they experience any of the symptoms or have been exposed to anyone who has contracted Covid-19.”

The necessary adjustments will be made in the best interest of all education stakeholders, the Division added.  

And citizens are encouraged to adhere to all guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health to preserve their personal safety.
