THE TTravelPass requirement for entry into Trinidad and Tobago will soon be discontinued.

The discontinuation comes into effect from June 1 but a negative PCR or antigen test is still required.

This was announced by Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh on Wednesday during the ministry’s Covid-19 update.

Deyalsingh made the announcement with authorisation from Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley noting that there was a waning of the acute phase of the pandemic and there was still need for precaution.

He said, “Unvaxxed nationals and non-nationals can enter Trinidad and Tobago. You don’t have to prove your vaccination status.”

Deyalsingh said, “However, you do have to provide either a negative PCR or an antigen test 48 hours prior to entry.”

He further said that if negative test was not produced, the traveller will be asked to go into state-supervised quarantine at their cost and provide a negative PCR or antigen test at any time during the quarantine period “as a condition of release for going home.”

All other Covid-19 measures remain in place including the wearing of masks and persons should do their own risk assessments as to their own personal involvement in social settings, the minister said.

With concerns arising from the possible spread of monkeypox, Deyalsingh also said that currently there are no travel restrictions due to that particular virus.
