THE oil production of the Teak, Samaan and Poui (TSP) east-coast offshore fields is increasing and operators Perenco will continue to invest in the energy sector.

These were some of the issues discussed between Energy Minister Stuart Young and Perenco’s officials this week.

The Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries in a release this week said the minister met with  Perenco’s Group Director, Eric d’Argentre,  Perenco T&T’s General Manager, Gregoire de Courcelles and Business Advisor, Allan Russell on Tuesday.

d’Argentre took the opportunity to share Perenco’s current activities and  Perenco’s future plans for investments with Minister Young. Perenco is the operator of the Teak, Samaan and Poui (TSP) fields offshore of the east coast.

The ministry stated, “Discussions indicated that TSP’s production is on an upward trend mainly as a result of successful productive workovers in the Samaan field and the installation of Electrical Submersible Pumps (ESP’s) in the Poui field.”

Young was pleased with Perenco’s intent to take a major step with the installation of the power generation Mobile Offshore Production Unit (MOPU) on the Poui field, which is currently being outfitted at Caribbean Dockyard in Chaguaramas.

This initiative will take place during the second quarter of 2022 and will bring a green footprint to Perenco’s T&T operations while providing the necessary electricity to support the ESP’s, the ministry stated.

Young indicated his determination to reduce the country’s carbon footprint and also encouraged Perenco’s team to continue their investments and take advantage of new opportunities in order to extract maximum returns within the next five years.
