CHAIRMAN of the Tobago Business Chamber attorney Martin George was ecstatic that Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowely is considering the idea of the full reopening of the economy and removal of all restrictions.
However, he urges him to do it expeditiously.
George said, “We compliment and congratulate the Prime Minister on thinking along these lines and we urge him to put it into action as soon as possible, so that we can see the full return of economic activity both in Trinidad and Tobago.”
He recalled the chamber’s repeated position that citizens in T&T have to learn to live and die with Covid.
George said, “It’s not a happy scenario and it’s not a thing we wish on anyone, but the reality is that the world is moving on; the world is getting past Covid, the world is learning to live with Covid and to die with Covid.
“And T&T sooner or later needs to get up to speed and have a full reopening of the economy and the full reopening of life as normal in T&T.”
He stated, “We need this for the mental health of our population. People have suffered long Covid fatigue, stresses, intolerance, impatience, all sorts of things have built up over this time of lockdown and restrictions.
“People just want to breathe in a moment where the entire nation has been waiting to exhale.”
