At 17, all Tinille Matthews thinks about is becoming a professional performer and choreographer.
And she knows in order to achieve that she has to be accepted to the Joffrey Ballet School in New York.
Tinille started dancing at the age seven and since then she has found her passion and buried her heart and soul in dance.
She said, “Many persons often ask why I started dancing and why it is that to this day after so many years I haven’t stopped.“Well initially I joined the dance group because my siblings did and I wanted to be with the older ones, but as I grew older and continued dancing it quickly became something that I held dear to my heart.
“Dance for me helps me to feel free and express any and every emotion I fail to expression verbally.
“It’s more than just something to do, it’s an art form, it’s a lifestyle.”
Tinille was a member of the Bishop Anstey High School East Modern Dance Team.
She is also a dedicated minister at the Faith Assembly International Church where she has shared her talents with the congregation. She is currently in her final semester of the Certificate of Dance and Dance Education programme at the St Augustine Campus of the University of the West Indies.
