Rampersad said the initiative was a continuation of flood relief efforts through the Tunapuna\Piarco Regional Corporation (TPRC) and other state agencies.

He said the relief would continue in the coming week, as assessment was needed to determine the type of social service and support required by residents.

Rampersad delivered cleaning supplies, water and food hampers in Benny Lane, St Augustine on Saturday where residents were also affected by the floods last week.

He said, “At present, a list was being complied of affected persons who may need their septic tanks cleaned.”

The councillor indicated that the list will be taken to the TPRC and a truck will be sent to clean and clear the septic tanks.

He said a team will visit some areas to power wash residue and slush from the floods and help clean the streets.

Rampersad said compensation for residents will be examined through grants for damaged furniture and appliances.
